Who We Are & What This Covers
Shokken GO is a web app for practicing how to order food at Japanese restaurants. It is operated by Tanpopo Games, LLC ("we," "us"), a Texas limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you use shokkengo.com and the Shokken GO app, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Shokken GO service only, not to any third-party site we link to.
Information We Collect
We collect information in a few ways:
- Information you give us. When you create an account we collect your email address and a display name — or, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares (your name, email, and avatar). You may also set preferences such as theme and language. If you contact support, we keep your messages.
- Information we collect automatically. As you practice, we record your activity — sessions, drills, scores, and progress — linked to an internal account ID. We also collect standard log and device data (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) and may infer your approximate location (city or country level) from your IP address.
- Payment information. When paid subscriptions are available, payments are handled by Stripe. We receive limited details such as your subscription status and the last four digits of your card; we never receive or store full card numbers.
How & Why We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- provide, maintain, and improve Shokken GO;
- create and manage your account and respond to support requests;
- process payments and manage subscriptions;
- keep the service secure and prevent fraud or abuse;
- comply with our legal obligations; and
- send you essential service messages (such as account or billing notices).
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, our legal bases for processing are: performance of our contract with you (to provide the service), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the service), your consent (where we ask for it), and compliance with legal obligations.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward. When you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we need to keep it to meet a legal obligation, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backups are deleted on a rolling schedule.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit and rely on the security of established providers such as Firebase and Stripe. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we work to protect your information and to address vulnerabilities promptly.
Your Choices
You can:
- access and update your profile and settings in the app;
- close your account at any time;
- opt out of non-essential email; and
- control cookies through your browser. Because our analytics are cookieless, blocking cookies will not affect them, but it may affect essential features like staying signed in.
Your Rights
Your rights depend on where you live.
- EEA and UK (GDPR). You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
- United States (including California). Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to access or delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

International Data Transfers
Tanpopo Games, LLC is based in the United States, and we process and store information there. If you access Shokken GO from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Children's Privacy
Shokken GO is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Third-Party Services & Links
Shokken GO relies on third-party services (such as Stripe and Google) and may link to other websites. Their use of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one. We encourage you to review them.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice (such as an in-app message). Your continued use of Shokken GO after an update means you accept the revised policy.
